Stories, but make them songs.

SONGWRITING / MUSIC / OTHER OBSESSIONS

I've been a musician for most of my life.

I've spent decades playing piano and singing, but songwriting has become one of my favourite ways to make sense of the things I think about, feel and imagine.

Some songs come from real life.

Others come from books, fictional characters and entire worlds that apparently weren't content to stay on the page.

I love the process of taking an idea, a feeling or a story and figuring out what it sounds like.

Sometimes that begins with a sentence. Sometimes it's a melody. Sometimes it's an entire fictional relationship that has absolutely no business taking up as much space in my brain as it does.

And yet, here we are.

M LUSCOMBE

Songs looking for their voices.

Under M LUSCOMBE, I write original songs with the hope that one day they'll find their way into the hands, and voices, of artists who want to make them their own.

My songwriting is generally led by piano, melody and lyrics, with a particular affection for the kind of honest, emotionally complicated storytelling that stays with you long after a song ends.

I'm currently recording demos and building a catalogue of original work.

There's something incredibly exciting about writing a song and imagining all the different lives it could have beyond me.

I don't necessarily need to be the person standing on stage singing it.

I just want to write something worth singing.

12TH HOUSE MOON

Some stories refuse to stay on the page.

12TH HOUSE MOON is my fictional songwriting project, inspired by the books, characters, relationships and imaginary worlds I become entirely too invested in.

Love, grief, power, rage, desire, heartbreak, revenge and all the complicated little things happening between the lines.

I take those stories and ask myself one question:

What would this sound like as a song?

Then I write it.

Every song begins with my own writing, melodies and creative direction. I use AI-assisted music production and synthetic vocals to bring those ideas to life, allowing me to explore different sounds, arrangements and vocal identities beyond my own.

It's a creative playground where traditional songwriting meets emerging technology.

The stories are fictional. The songwriting is mine. The production is AI-assisted.

It's dramatic. It's indulgent. It's occasionally completely unhinged.

LUNAR LITTLES

A little music for little people.

And because apparently writing songs about fictional wars, complicated relationships and morally questionable characters wasn't enough, I also write children's songs.

LUNAR LITTLES started with my five-year-old and his wonderfully imaginative little brain.

Animals, dinosaurs, rockets, swimming pools, volcanoes and whatever else happens to capture his attention become the starting points for songs we can sing, dance and be completely ridiculous to.

I write the songs, melodies and creative direction, then use AI-assisted production and synthetic vocals to bring them to life.

Partly because I love experimenting with different sounds and voices.

But mostly because my five-year-old informed me that he wanted to hear other people singing his songs and not “always Mumma Bella.”

Fifteen years of professional singing experience, and I've apparently been replaced by a computer.

Brutal. Absolutely brutal.

Anyway, LUNAR LITTLES is a growing collection of playful, imaginative songs for little people with very big ideas.

The process

I write the words, find the melody, sit down at the piano and begin working out how the song wants to exist.

Some stay stripped back.

Others become bigger productions.

Some are intended as demos for other artists, while others are released as part of my own creative projects.

I love the writing as much as the finished song. The scribbled pages, the terrible first attempts, the moment a chorus finally works and the occasional 2am realisation that I've written myself into a corner.

It's all part of it.
